Ex-Everton captain hails his former club’s business in the transfer window

Former Everton captain Phil Neville has credited the Toffees as having done the best business thus far this summer of all the clubs in the Premier League.

Despite having lost top goal scorer from last season, Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, the Merseyside club have so far managed to complete the signings of Davy Klaassen, Jordan Pickford, Sandro Ramirez and Michael Keane.

Everton have also been strongly linked with Swansea captain Gylfi Sigurdsson, whom they are expected to sign before the start of next season.

Neville said of Everton’s business, “I think if any club are probably going to break the stranglehold of the top six now, you think [it would be] Everton.

“They were closest last season and fell a little bit short, but with the young players breaking through coupled with the signings they have made, Everton could be the team to watch this season.

“They spent good money on the boy from Malaga, Sandro. He is an outstanding player; I watched a lot of him last year for Malaga. He’s young, probably needs time to settle in.”
