Everton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that the future of Ross Barkley remains unclear.
Koeman had warned the 23-year-old Barkley that, should he not sign a new contract at Goodison Park this summer, he would be sold. Considering that the midfielder has yet to sign a new deal, it looks like he wishes to leave the club.
The Toffees have not been inactive this summer and have so far recruited the likes of Sandro Ramirez, Wayne Rooney, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen.
Even if the Merseyside club ends up losing the England international, they will not be short of talent for next season.
Koeman said of the current situation, “At the moment it is not a clear situation. He is not fit, that’s the reason he didn’t travel with the team. We will see when he is fit and back, but everybody knows his situation, and we will see what will happen.”
