Aston Villa have completed the signing of 24-year-old

Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has completed a season long loan move to Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old initially arrived at Villa during the January transfer window on loan for the second half of the season and impressed, making 22 appearances for the club.

Johnstone said of his move, “I am delighted to be back. I really enjoyed my last spell here – it’s a great club with top players and passionate fans.”

The loan comes as no surprise considering that the player does not appear to be part of the United’s first team plans heading into the future and also has yet to feature for the club’s first team.

Johnstone has previously had loan spells with Scunthorpe United, Preston North End and Doncaster Rovers.

Now is the time for him to start playing regular football and Villa is a good club for the goalkeeper to establish himself, considering that he seemed content at Villa Park.
