Klopp makes encouraging admission about future of popular Liverpool man

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has breathed some life into Mamadou Sakho’s Liverpool career by not clearly ruling his return out.

Although Sakho did not play any part in Reds first pre-season friendly against Tranmere rovers, Klopp had this to say about the French defender’s future: “First of all he needs to get 100% fit and then we will see.”

Sakho fell out of favor during pre-season last year due to fitness and disciplinary issues. The French international continued training away from first team throughout first half of 2016/2017 season and was then loaned out to Crystal Palace in the January transfer window.

The mercurial center-back infuriated Liverpool supporters when he celebrated from the sidelines after Christian Benteke scored the winner for Crystal Palace at Anfield, back in April.

However, Sakho’s performances at Selhurst Park caught everyone’s eye as he helped the Eagles end up at 14th in the table after they had a very poor start to the season. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due a knee injury, from which he is yet to fully recover.
