26-year-old reportedly ready to leave Newcastle United

According to reports, Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow is open to moving to Middlesbrough this summer.

Though Darlow served as first choice keeper for the Magpies for much of last season, he lost his position towards the end of the campaign to Rob Elliot and with Rafa Benitez reportedly looking to sign a new keeper, he could himself further slip down the pecking order at the club.

According to reports, Darlow will not feature during the Magpies upcoming pre-season fixture against Hearts as the club fear that an injury could ruin their hopes of selling him.

Boro reportedly had a £5 million move for the goalkeeper rejected last week and after being informed that he will not be the clubs first choice shot-stopper for next season, Darlow is reportedly open to leaving St James Park.

Considering that both Brad Guzan and Victor Valdez left Boro following the club’s relegation from the Premiership last season, Darlow will be a good addition to the club.
