Everton’s incoming superstar will reportedly wear the number 10 jersey to be vacated by Lukaku

According to reports, Wayne Rooney will wear the number 10 shirt which is set to be vacated by Romelu Lukaku as he nears the completion of transfer to his boyhood club.

Despite being the all-time record goal record goal scorer for United, Rooney is aware that his time at the Red Devils is nearing an end, especially considering that he received limited playing time under Jose Mourinho last season.

For the 31-year-old, a move at this stage of his career is best especially if he wants to form part of the England national team’s plans for the 2018 World Cup.

Rooney left Everton on rather bitter terms as a youngster in 2004 to join United. He will take up the number 10 shirt that had been worn by Lukaku as the Belgian is set to depart the club this summer in order to achieve his goal of playing in the UEFA Champions League.
