As The Birmingham Mail reports, Jordan Veretout is still in no man’s land since Aston Villa and St. Etienne are still locked in negotiations about his possible move back to France.
Veretout, who spent the last season on loan at St. Etienne, is keen on making the deal permanent, but he could remain in limbo as long as the two clubs haggle.
The 24-year-old midfielder still has 3 years left on his contract with the Villains, but it seems that Steve Bruce is ready to offload the player who turned out to be a major flop.
Villa paid £9 million in 2015 when they signed Veretout from Nantes, but he failed to live up to the expectations.
According to the reports, St. Etienne is offering only £4 million for the player. But, Steve Bruce urgently needs money to pay for the arrival of Glenn Whelan from Stoke City, and he could let Veretout go after all.
