When Garry Monk ditched Leeds United for Championship new boys Middlesbrough after the season, many Leeds fans would have been upset. And for good reason. But now that he is there, it looks like he will be getting yet another one over on his former side.
Middlesbrough are in need of reinforcements as surely they will have a lot of turnover after their relegation last term. And as a result, it’s said that they are looking into the signing of Norwich man Jonny Howson, who was also reportedly a target of Leeds United.
According to the Mirror, Howson is wanting to quit and “return back north.” The report then states that the former Whites manager Monk had been tracking Howson for some time now, and that he will use his new club’s parachute payments to push a deal over the line.
This deal looks likely, and on the surface it looks like it would sting a little for fans of the Whites. But in truth, it’s football and things like this will happen. The real story will be written on the pitch when Leeds and Middlesbrough clash in the Monk derby of sorts.
