Three Things we learned from Rangers’ unimpressive win against Progres

Rangers made their bow in the 2017/18 season on Thursday with a 1-0 win in the Europa League over Progres. Here are three thoughts:

Niko Kranjcar is pure class. The Croatian has always been capable of being the best player on the pitch, no matter where he has gone.

He once again showed that on Thursday as his passing range was on show for the first time in eight months. The former Spurs man was constantly one of their better players years ago, and will markedly improve Rangers whenever he’s on the pitch.

Kenny Miller is still vastly important. Despite being 37 years old, the Scottish veteran is still going to be a key player up front for Gers as the season goes on. His finish on Thursday night was a classic poacher’s goal, faking a cross with his eyes to turn the ball into the near post.

48,681 supporters showed up for a match in late June, showing just how eager and excited fans are to see their side back in Europe.
