It has been confirmed that Gerard Deulofeu will return to Barcelona from Everton after the Catalan giants decided to trigger a buy back clause in the player’s contract.
The Spanish giants will pay £12 million for the 23-year-old who was brought to Goodison Park by Roberto Martinez in 2013/14.
Deulofeu had an impressive first season in English football a few years ago and helped the Toffees finish the League in fifth position. Apart from that, he was inconsistent during his time with the club and found himself in and out of the team.
Barcelona have now confirmed via their website that they have decided to buy back Deulofeu and stated, ‘FC Barcelona have activated the buy-back clause for Gerard Deulofeu.
In the following days, the terms will be agreed with both Everton and the player. Deulofeu’s contract will run until 30 June 2019.
It now appears that new Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde sees a place for Deulofeu in his first team plans.
