£7million midfielder likely to leave Aston Villa this summer

According to the Birmingham Mail, Jordan Veretout could permanently leave Aston Villa, and he is heavily linked with a move to his former club Nantes.

Claudio Ranieri, a Premier League winner, is now in charge of Nantes, and it seems that the manager is keen on bringing Veretout to his old home.

Veretout had left Nantes in 2015, joining the Villains in a £7million move. However, Aston Villa got relegated the same year, and the French player failed to leave a substantial impression on the Premier League.

He spent the last season on loan at St Etienne, and Claudio Ranieri is now showing a strong interest in the player. Veretout failed to adjust to the physicality of the English football, and a return to the club where he recorded 150 appearances seems to be a smart move.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce will be happy to offload the player, in an effort to sign some fresh faces over the summer transfer window.
