According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has given Lucas the green light to leave, as the 30 year old searches for more first-team football. Lucas’ next stop could be at Newcastle.

The Brazilian destroyer’s contract expires this summer and it appears that a new one is not forth-coming. Klopp no longer needs the services of the Brazilian, and will be looking at younger talent to serve as cover for this position.

A reunion with former manager Rafa Benitez seems to be on the cards, with the Spaniard having brought Lucas to Anfield over ten years ago, during his time in charge of the Merseyside club.

Lucas is an experienced campaigner and brings a certain level of grit and strength to the midfield. He would be an ideal signing for Newcastle United, who will need all the experience they can get in order to stay afloat in the Premier League.
