This Sunday, June 18, 2017 (11:45 AM Pacific) Denmark will play Italy at the Marszałek Piłsudski Stadium in Krakow, Poland for a group stage match in the 2017 U21 UEFA Euro. Both teams are in Group C which is one of the more contested groups in the competition and both teams will be looking for the three points from the game.
Denmark does have a lot of young talent on its squad but it is an arguably weaker roster than its opposition. Most of the young Danish players do play domestically with a few exceptions like Patrick Banggaard of German club, Darmstadt, Andrew Hjulsager of the Spanish side, Celta Vigo, Kenneth Zohore of Cardiff City and the captain, Lasse Vigen Christensen of Burton Albion. There are also other players on the squad who militate on Dutch, Norwegian and Swiss clubs as well. Denmark has potential to emerge as a dark horse out of this Group C but will have to achieve a favorable result against Italy in this match.
Italy has had an extensive track record of producing young talent and will count with a formidable squad for this competition. The strongest component for Gli Azzurri is easily the defense with one of the best young goalkeepers in the world, Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan. The back line has some outstanding defenders like Andrea Conti of AC Milan and Daniele Rugani of Juventus. The midfield is led by Danilo Cataldi of Genoa and Marco Benassi of Torino.
The attack also counts with potent players like Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo and Andrea Petagna who scored five goals and obtained seven assists with Atalanta in the previous Serie A season. Federico Bernadeschi of Fiorentina will be another player to look out for as he scored 11 goals in this past Serie A campaign. The match should be an intriguing encounter even with Italy coming into the game as the favorites.
