West Ham reportedly leading the race to sign Manchester United man

According to the Express, the Hammers are leading the race to sign Chris Smalling, who seems to be parting his ways with Jose Mourinho and Old Trafford.

Even though Smalling has two years left on his contract, he could move to London Stadium during the summer in a transfer worth around £12 million.

Slaven Bilic’s team have moved to the top of the queue in regards to securing the services of England international, but other clubs are also showing an interest in the player.

At the same time, West Ham are keeping their eyes open for Johan Djourou, but it seems that Smalling is their preferred target.

The arrival of Victor Lindelof is a clear sign that Smalling will have limited playing time if he decides to stay at United next season.

West Ham are hoping that Chris Smalling will get back to his old best once he joins the Hammers following the defender’s difficult season last year.
