According to reports, West Ham United have opened talks about signing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud ahead of next season and are willing pay him a salary of £100,000-a-week.
The 30-year-old Giroud fell down the pecking order at the Gunners this past season after managing just 17 starts in all competitions.
Giroud recently indicated that he will leave Arsenal should he not be assured of first team action by saying, “It is true that I have had limited playing time but it was for a certain amount of time, it is true there were things against me.
The desire of manager Arsene Wenger to add a new quality striker to his lineup may also further dampen Giroud’s chances of first team action next season.
West Ham struggled in terms of inconsistency in front of goal this past season, with both Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll struggling to score goals on a regular basis.
According to reports, Giroud could be sold to the Hammers for £20 million with the club believed to be willing to pay him a huge salary.
