This Tuesday, June 13, 2017 (12:00 PM Pacific) France will host England at the Stade de France for an international friendly match. Both teams have world-class talent on their squads and have created a rivalry over the years which should translate into an enticing duel.
France is coming off a shocking 2-1 loss against Sweden in the UEFA World Cup qualifiers. Olivier Giroud scored the lone goal for Les Bleus in their surprising loss away from home. This should be a tougher test for Didier Deschamps’ men even if it is just a friendly match. Deschamps will have a full squad for the encounter but it will be intriguing to see if the skipper decides to use some of the younger players on the roster like Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar, Adrien Rabiot and Ousmane Dembele. There is no clear winner heading into the encounter but France should have the slight edge playing in front of a vibrant crowd at the Stade de France.
England is coming off a much more positive result, obtaining a 2-2 draw away from home against Scotland. All the goals in that game came late from both sides with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain getting a goal in the 70th minute and Harry Kane getting the late equalizer in stoppage time. Gareth Southgate will count with a plethora of young talent on his squad with players like Dele Alli and Harry Kane but will also have experienced veterans at his disposal like Jermain Defoe and Adam Lallana. The match should be one of the best this week, with both teams eager to get the victory for bragging rights in a historic rivalry.
