This Tuesday, June 13, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific) Costa Rica will host Trinidad & Tobago at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica for a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier. Both teams are in the contested race for a World Cup spot in the CONCACAF region and should present an exciting duel.
Costa Rica is excelling in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, currently in second with eight points in the hexagonal stage. Los Ticos tied 0-0 in a hard-fought match at home against Honduras in their last World Cup qualifier. Head coach, Oscar Ramirez counts with a very talented squad with players from some of the top leagues in the world like La Liga, English Premier League and the Serie A.
Some of the more intriguing players on the squad include Keylor Navas of Real Madrid, Celso Borges of Deportivo La Coruna and Joel Campbell of Arsenal. Costa Rica does have the better squad and the home-field advantage which should translate into three points.
Trinidad & Tobago has been one of the worst teams in the hexagonal stage of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying stage, currently in last with three points. The Islanders are coming off a tough 2-0 loss to the United States away from home and should suffer a similar fate in this encounter. Some of the more talented players on the Caribbean side play in the MLS like Joevin Jones, Mekeil Williams, Kevin Molino and Kenwyne Jones. The game should be an intense encounter even with Costa Rica emerging as the more dominant side in the clash.
