Agent says highly rated manager is not joining Leeds United

Stam

Jaap Stam had been marked as one of the biggest favorites to become Leeds United manager recently but it seems that this deal is not going to happen according to his agent Henk Timmer.

After Garry Monk surprisingly decided to leave, the Peacocks made the former Dutch centre-back, and the current manager of Reading one of the primary targets for the managerial role at Elland Road.

To quash the rumors though, the Timmer that his client is not going to join Leeds and that he is staying at the Madejski Stadium, where he wants to finish his job.

He told Voetbal Primeur: “There is a lot of interest in Jaap, from English clubs and elsewhere in Europe, but he is loyal to Reading, the club that gave him a chance in English football.

“If a big club in the Premier League knocks, it might be a different story – the club is realistic. But, as it stands now, Jaap wants to finish his job at Reading.”

The rumors started heating up since he has not extended his deal with Reading and is currently entering final 12 months of his contract.

Stam led Reading to the Championship playoff finals during the last campaign, where they lost against Huddersfield Town in the penalty shootout.
