According to reports, Everton have made Burnley defender Michael Keane their number one defensive target this summer.
Despite Burnley retaining Premier League status, Keane is expected to leave Turf Moor this summer, especially considering that he has just one more year left on his current deal with the club.
He will also feel tempted to play for a club that can challenge for Champions League qualification.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman indicated that he was interested in Keane earlier in the year though he added that the 24-year-old was just one of a number of defenders that he was interested in.
The Toffees could face competition from Keane’s former club Manchester United in signing him.
The player joined Burnley from United in 2015 for £2 million and the Red Devils still retain a sell-on clause and will pocket 25% of whatever Burnley may make from his sale.
