Everton confirm the release of midfielder and striker

Everton have confirmed that Conor McAleny and Arouna Kone will be leaving the club when their contracts expire at the end of this month.

The 24-year-old McAleny was once a highly rated young prospect at the club and made his first team debut at the age of 19 against Arsenal.

After failing to establish himself within the first team, he had various loan stints and notched 10 goals from 18 games for Oxford United in League One this past season.

The 33-year-old Kone also never managed to set Goodison Park alight during his time at the club. He was usually used as a squad rotation player and backup during his stint with the club and will leave after having scored 10 goals from 61 appearances.

The duo will likely find new clubs in ahead of next season though.
