Sunderland unlikely to sign Belgian international due to £8million asking price

Adnan Januzaj will be unlikely to return to Sunderland next season especially after parent club Manchester United decided to place a £8 million price tag on his sale.

Januzaj will be expected to leave the Red Devils this summer and looks to be surplus to requirements at the club. Three years ago, he showed promise after being handed first team opportunities and was expected to blossom into a superstar.

Even based on his performances alone, Sunderland may not have kept the attacker.

The club were relegated from the Premier League after finishing 16 points adrift of safety and unlike his team-mates Jordan Pickford and Jermain Defoe, Januzaj did not show any form of resilience whilst Sunderland were in disarray.

The Belgian international also endured a disastrous loan spell during the 2015-16 season, with German club Borussia Dortmund. Despite his shortcomings, Januzaj is still only 22-years-old and has yet to peak. He still has time to kick-start his career.
