Ex-Leeds United boss reportedly open to joining Sunderland

According to reports, Garry Monk is open to becoming new Sunderland manager following his shock departure from Leeds United last month.

After guiding Leeds to a seventh place finish – which was arguably one of their best seasons since being relegated from the English Premiership in 2004, Monk quit the club amid rumors that he failed to reach an agreement club owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Sunderland endured a frustrating past season after they were relegated from the Premiership after finishing in last position and 16 points adrift of safety.

Monk will be a huge coup for the Sunderland team, who will aim to rebuild their squad ahead of next season, especially considering that their star players such as Jordan Pickford, Jermaine Defoe and LamineKone are not expected to stay at the club.

Based on their current state, Sunderland will be very lucky if they can manage to recruit Monk as their new manager.
