West Ham reportedly keen on 29-year-old striker; Asking price is £26 million

According to reports, West Ham United are preparing a bid to sign FC Koln striker Anthony Modeste. However, should the Hammers wish to sign the French forward, they will have to fork out a sum of money believed to be in the region of £26 million.

This means that if the East London club end up signing the 29-year-old Modeste, he will become the clubs recording signing, overtaking Andre Ayew who the club acquired from Swansea City last summer for £20.5 million.

The fees that Koln are demanding for Modeste is certainly high and the potential signing may be a risk signing considering that it is unknown whether he can perform in the Premier League.

The Hammers are in need of new striker as they prepare to improve their performances following a disappointing season particularly in front of goal.

Slaven Bilic’s side should perhaps rather aim to sign strikers who are proven performers in the English top flight.
