Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has said some words which are bound to upset Celtic die-hards. According to Scholes, Bhoys captain Scott Brown would not have had the influence he had for Celtic last season if he were playing for an English club.
The 31-year-old Brown played a key role for Brendan Rodgers team this past season, playing 54 games in all competitions and scoring three goals as well as providing three assists in the process.
Though Scholes did admit that Brown has had a positive influence on Celtic, he does not believe that the Scotsman would have had the same effect had he been playing for an English club.
The 42-year-old Scholes said, “Scott is in the right place. He’s a real leader. [He] has had a fantastic career with Celtic. I’ve watched him over the years in the Celtic team but it’s hard to gauge the level of the Scottish game compared to down here.
“But could he have done the same with a big club down in England? I’m not sure he’d have had the same influence.”
