Everton reportedly set to be offered superstar in exchange for Lukaku

Rooney

According to reports, Manchester United are willing to offer Wayne Rooney to Everton in a deal to recruit striker Romelu Lukaku.

As Zlatan Ibrahimovic is nearing the end of his career, United are in need of a new quality striker to contribute goals to their side next season and Lukaku would certainly fit the bill.

United are also reportedly stepping up their interest in the Belgian Lukaku after Antoine Griezmann looks increasingly likely to remain with Atletico Madrid.

Everton are said to be demanding as much as £90 million for the signature of Lukaku. United are hoping that offering Rooney to the Merseyside club will soften the price.

Lukaku has refused to sign a new deal with Everton as the club cannot offer him Champions League football, which United will be able to offer. Rooney is now down on the pecking order at Old Trafford and Everton may be keen to add his experience to their squad.
