Former Celtic boss Martin O’ Neill is not surprised to see Aberdeen midfielder Jonny Hayes being linked with a move to Celtic and encouraged him to make the move.
O’ Neill, who works with Hayes through the Republic of Ireland national team, is not surprised to see the player being linked with a move to Parkhead and said, “I wouldn’t really be surprised by Celtic’s interest because he gives you something. He wants to take players on, he wants to go for it and that’s encouraging.”
The 29-year-old Hayes struck 11 goals last season to help Aberdeen finish in second position in the Scottish Premiership, a massive 30 points behind Celtic.
The Hoops won the treble this season and dominated Scottish Football. However they have not made a serious impact in the Champions League for many years and finished bottom of their group in the Champions’ League group stages this past season while failing to win a single match.
