Newcastle United reportedly place big money offer for 19-year-old African star

According to reports, Newcastle United have made a £10.4 million bid for Metz star Ismaïla Sarr. However the French outfit will likely reject this bid as they are said to be demanding a fee in the region of £13 million.

Rafa Benitez is looking to bolster his team’s midfield in order to flourish in the Premier League next season. The Spanish manager does already have Ronaldo Aarons, Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu at his disposal.

However Yoan Gouffran and Sammy Ameobi are set to depart the club with their contracts expiring and therefore new additions to the squad will have to be made.

Sarr could be a good and cheap option for the Magpies.  The-19 year-old played regularly last season, making 31 appearances for Metz in Ligue 1 and scoring five goals in the process.

Metz manager Philippe Hinschberger said of the Senegalese youngster last month, “He runs at opponents, he’s quick and he’s someone you don’t like to defend against, so we like to have him.”
