This Thursday, June 1, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific) Mexico will play the Republic of Ireland in an international friendly match at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The match should be an intriguing one with both sides having strong squads for the encounter.

Mexico is coming off a horrific, disappointing 2-1 loss to Croatia in an international friendly match in Los Angeles, California. Croatia presented an extremely weak squad without any of its stars like Luka Modric or Ivan Rakitic. Juan Carlos Osorio counted with a strong squad with some key absences that will be available for this match against Ireland.

All the players that were in the Liga MX final like Jesus Duenas and Orbelin Pineda should be available for this encounter and it will be interesting to see if Juan Carlos Osorio does decide to start them. Rafael Marquez is also set to be back from an extensive injury and should receive the start in this match. Mexico will count with more elements than it did in the game against Croatia and this should be a game that El Tri should be able to win.

The Republic of Ireland, unlike Croatia, will present a full squad against Mexico and should prove to be a good test for the Aztec side. Some of the more intriguing players for the European side will be from the English Premier League like James McCarthy of Everton, Robbie Brady of Burnley and Shane Long of Southampton.

Another enticing player will be the veteran winger, Aiden McGeady who was one of the best players in the English second tier division with Preston North End. McGeady possesses pace and skill and could present a problem to Mexico’s back line. Not much is expected from the match after the pitiful game against Croatia but it should be an interesting game with Ireland having most of its best players available for the encounter.
