Leon Osman wants to see superstar join Everton this summer

Former Everton star Leon Osman has expressed his hopes that his former club signs Wayne Rooney. After falling down the pecking order at United this season under Jose Mourinho, Rooney has been linked with a move back to his boyhood club Everton.

Osman said on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport on Monday night, as captured in a video on their official Twitter account, “I personally hope he comes to Everton, as an Everton fan. He’s got a few years left in the game certainly.

“He may have played his best football but he’s still a good enough player to be able to perform in the Premier League.”

Rooney moved from the Toffees to Everton in 2004 and it remains to be seen if he will rejoin the club, especially as teams from China and the United States are also rumored to be interested.

The Manchester United captain Rooney was not selected for Gareth Southgate’s recent England squad that will play against Scotland and France and should he have any hope of making the Three Lions 2018 World Cup squad then joining Everton will be the best option as it will allow him to remain active in the Premier League.
