This Saturday, May 27, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific) Mexico will play Croatia in an international friendly match at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. Mexico does have a strong squad for the game while Croatia did exclude some of its best players and it is unclear how the game will go.
Mexico has a stellar roster for this game including all the players who play in Europe like Javier Hernandez and Diego Reyes. Some of the players who do militate in Europe will not be available this includes Marco Fabian, Raul Jimenez and Carlos Salcedo. Other players who will not be available for the encounter are the Chivas and Tigres players who will play the second leg of the Liga MX final this Sunday, May 28.
Juan Carlos Osorio also has a strong contingent of players from the Liga MX and some of the more intriguing names are players who are fighting for a spot on the gold cup roster like Jesus Gallardo, Elias Hernandez, Raul Lopez and Jorge Hernandez. The game should serve more for these types of players who are fighting to stay on the national team as Croatia will not present a very formidable team.
It was a disappointment to see Croatia’s roster as it did not include any big names like Luka Modric or Ivan Rakitic. Most of the players that were called for this friendly by the European side play domestically but there were still some intriguing names like Bayer Leverkusen’s, Tim Jedvaj. Perhaps, the most interesting name on the list is SM Caen’s, Ivan Santini who scored 15 goals and obtained two assists in the Ligue 1 campaign this season. The match should still be an intriguing affair and should be one that Mexico should be able to win against an alternate Croatian side.
