This Tuesday, May 23, 2017 (4:00 AM Pacific) Mexico will play Germany in the U20 FIFA World Cup at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium in Daejeon, South Korea. The two teams are in Group B in the U20 World Cup and will look to get points from this game to advance to the next round.
Mexico had a disappointing display in its first game just slightly defeating Vanuatu 3-2. A late goal in stoppage time by Club America’s, Edson Alvarez helped Mexico get the victory against the island nation in the first match day. The two other goals for El Tri were scored by Kevin Magana of Guadalajara and Ronaldo Cisneros of Santos Laguna. The victory was deserved Mexico having dominated in possession with 60-percent and in attempts with 25. The fact that Mexico just barely achieved the victory is still worrying and this could prove to be a tough match against a much more potent opponent.
Germany started off the competition with a disappointing performance as well, falling 2-0 to Venezuela. The match stats were very even at the end of the encounter but Germany was unable to be clinical in front of net to give a competitive encounter against Venezuela. The European side does have a talented team that all play domestically in either the Bundesliga or the Bundesliga 2 and should be able to give a hard-fought performance here. The match should be an exciting one between two very talented teams and should prove to be a close encounter.
