According to reports, UEFA Champions League semi-finalists Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi.
Diego Simeone’s team could be viewing the French international as a possible replacement for Theo Hernandez who is expected to move to Real Madrid during the summer.
Since the Villans were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015/16 season, there have been rumors linking Amavi with a move away from the club. However, Villa are unlikely to let him go easily.
In January owner Tony Xia confirmed that the club had rejected an offer of £25 million from French Ligue 1 club Marseille for Amavi.
The 23-year-old Amavi made 36 appearances for Villa last season and they finished the Championship season in mid-table.
Considering that Atletico are high-flyers in the La Liga and that they offer the prospect of Champions League football, a transfer will definitely be appealing to Amavi.
