This Sunday, May 21, 2017 (1:00 AM Pacific) Iran and Costa Rica will clash in the South Korea FIFA U20 World Cup at the Jeju World Cup Stadium. These teams form part of Group C which also includes Zambia, and group favorite Portugal.
Iran is prepared to perform in their third U20 World Cup, as they had previously only competed in 1977 and 2001. In both of those cases, they were unable to get passed the gorup stage, therefore this Sunday the team coached by Amir Hossein Peyrovani will have an extra incentive to win their oppening match.
On the other hand, Costa Rica has performed in U20 World Cups a total of six times, where in 2009 they finished in 4th place. The team coached by Argentine Marcelo Herrera understands that a win against Iran will place them in great position to qualify into the knock-out stages. With six groups in the competition, all first and second placed teams qualify into the next round, along with the four best third-place teams.
