Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is optimistic that his side can deliver in the Premier League next season.
The 57-year-old Benitez said, “You have to start winning something and competing. We won something in the first year so you never know. I think we have already made steps forward. We have put the foundations down to build something bigger.”
In only his first full season as manager, Benitez guided the Magpies back to the Premier League, securing the Championship title in the process.
Next season will be Newcastle’s 22nd top flight campaign and Benitez’s seventh. The vast experience Benitez garnered during his time managing in both England and Spain should serve the club well in the near future.
With club owner Mike Ashley having granted Benitez money to invest in new recruits, fans of the club can also look forward to welcoming exciting new faces to the team this summer.
