Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly, per Daily Mail, interested in luring Manchester City duo Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala to Newcastle, as he looks to bolster his side ahead of life in the Premier League next season.
After talks with club owner Mike Ashley during this week, Benitez committed his future to the Magpies, with Ashley set to provide him with sufficient funds to lure the players he wants.
Fernando has struggled for game time under Guardiola, having only made 12 appearances this season in the Premier League. It is thus unlikely that the club will block a transfer, should the Brazil international wish to leave.
Mangala appears to have no future at City. He is currently on loan with Spanish club Valencia, who have not triggered the clause to make his loan deal permanent. It is likely that City will also allow Mangala to leave should they receive a decent offer. With plenty of experience under their belts, both players could be valuable additions to the Magpies.
