West Ham reportedly looking at Southampton Striker to solve scoring woes

According to Standard, West Ham are once again considering swooping for Southampton striker Shane Long. The Hammers have endured a disappointing season this term, especially in front of goal, with their main forward Andy Caroll only netting seven goals. Diafra Sakho has also been plagued by injuries which has hampered the East London club in front of goal.

It comes as no surprise that Hammers manager Slaven Bilic is looking to recruit new forwards during the summer. Long may be keen on a move. While he has played 30 games for Southampton this season, only nine of those have been starts.

Given the Republic of Ireland’s player hard work-ethic and proven ability to score goals at Premier League level, he may be well-liked by West Ham fans.  The 30 year old was on the club’s radar last season and though they failed to complete the signing, they may have a better chance this time around.
