Alex Ferguson’s Former Assistant Manager Trashes EPL Star Linked with Manchester United

Former Manchester United assistant manager Rene Meulensteen has stated that Romelu Lukaku is not good enough to play for the Red Devils. The Belgian international is expected to leave Everton at the end of the season and has been linked with Chelsea and United.

Meulsensteen served as assistant manager to Alex Ferguson from 2007-2013 and oversaw the club winning three Premier League titles and one Champions League and is not convinced that Lukaku has the ability to be the main forward at United.

He said to talkSport, “Don’t get me wrong here, Lukaku has obviously had a fantastic season and he is a goalscorer. But at a club like Manchester United you need more strings to your bow.”

Seeing that Lukaku is currently the top scorer in the Premier League with 24 goals, many would disagree with Meulensteen. He has also scored as many goals as the entire United team have scored at Old Trafford this season.
