Everton manager Ronald Koeman has sanctioned a bid for his club to sign Ajax playmaker Davy Klaasen, which has prompted speculation that the club may no longer look to sign Wayne Rooney, per The Mirror.
According to reports, Klaasen is a priority target of the Merseyside club and Koeman is willing to pay £20 million to sign him. The 24 year old has played well this season in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring 19 goals and providing 12 assists for his club from 46 matches in all competitions.
The Merseyside club’s interest in luring Klaasen will dash hopes that fans may have of them resigning their former youth product, Rooney. According to reports, Manchester United are looking to offload Rooney, as he is no longer part of their future plans, with the England captain also looking to revive his career.
Klaasen is full of talent and has been captain of Ajax for the past two years. He would be a good signing for the Toffee’s, as he has the age advantage over Rooney.
