Rodgers will try to keep fan-favorite player at Celtic 1 more season

Brendan Rodgers has assured fans of the club that it will work hard to try and keep Patrick Roberts at the club beyond this season. The 20 year old is currently on a season long loan deal from Manchester City and has been impressive for the Bhoys this season, becoming a fan favorite.

Rodgers said, “I think he’s a player (Roberts) that of course we’d love to have here, but we have to respect he’s still a Manchester City player. If there’s ever a possibility of doing it then of course it’s something that I would look at.”

Roberts comments that he would reject a call up to play for England in the under 20 World Cup to play for Celtic in the Scottish Cup final, would certainly have elevated hopes that he is keen on remaining at the club.

It remains to be seen whether City would want to bring Roberts back to the Etihad stadium or opt to grant Celtic permission to keep him for another season.
