Celtic are reportedly monitoring the progress of FC Utrecht defender Giovanni Troupee but may face competition from clubs in Germany as well as England.
After impressing this season, Troupee is expected to be called up to the Netherlands national team in the near future. AZ Alkmaar had attempted to sign him in January, however Utrecht did not wish to sell to another Dutch club.
Brendan Rodgers is hoping to make signings during the summer in order to bolster his side ahead of next season as well as to perform better in the UEFA Champions League.
The 19-year-old did recently seem to indicate that he is open to a transfer by saying, “Of course it is flattering to hear your name linked with big clubs abroad.”
A transfer to the Bhoys is possible. Troupee may be tempted by the prospect of getting to play in the Champions League, and should Celtic make an inquiry, they will likely pay a fee in the region of £1.75 million which is within their budget.
