Everton are reportedly keen on 29-year-old Italian defender

Italian source TuttoMercato Web have claimed that Everton are interested in Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi and may try to lure him during the summer.

The Toffees are expected to have a busy summer in terms of transfers as manager Ronald Koeman aims to build upon the progress that they have made this season as well as assemble a side that can challenge for a top four finish next season.

With Phil Jagielka and Ramiro Funes Mori not particularly impressive in the centre-back position, the club is reportedly looking for a new recruit to challenge for the first team spot.

Considering that Sassuolo are not heavyweights in the Serie A and that Everton are a progressing club, Acerbi may be tempted by an offer from the English club.

He also has vast experience competing at the highest level which may be useful to the Toffees should they manage to sign him. Ronald Koeman’s side will need to make quality signings if they wish to once again play impressive football next season.
