According to bookmakers 888Sport, Everton are favorites to land Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart during the summer.
Everton are looking to recruit a new high profile goalkeeper as neither Maarten Stekelenburg nor Joel Robles convinced that they are capable of being long term first choice shot-stoppers this season.
After being deposed as first choice at City after the arrival of Pep Guardiola, Hart opted to go on loan to Italian club Torino during the early phases of the season.
Though he is said to be settled at the club, Torino cannot afford his salary on a long-term basis. In August, Everton manager Ronald Koeman had the opportunity to sign Hart but decided not to. This was probably as he had higher expectations of Robles and Stekelenburg.
Hart could indeed be a good addition to the Everton team if Koeman now decides to sign him. In addition to being vastly experienced, Hart’s leadership may also benefit the young side and could help the Merseyside club to build upon the progress they have made under Koeman this season.
