Former Stoke boss Lou Macari has revealed that he feels that long serving captain Ryan Shawcross will remain at the club beyond this season.
Macari said, “You can never be sure in this day and age, but I’d be amazed if Ryan Shawcross lined up at the start of next season in the black-and-white stripes of Newcastle and not the red-and-white stripes of Stoke City.”
Speculation has emerged that the 29-year-old could leave the club after not renewing his contract with Stoke and now Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing him during the summer.
Shawcross is a fan favorite among Potters’ fans and has been at the club since 2008 after joining from Manchester United.
Stoke have been one of the more consistent teams in the Premier League over the past decade and Shawcross is settled at the club, so staying at the club would be a better option from a neutral perspective. However it remains to be seen whether he wants a fresh challenge.
