Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has admitted that he is concerned by his clubs recent decline in form.
Benitez said, “I am concerned about the change of the team, in terms of the performance against Leeds and then our performance today.
“That is the only thing I am thinking about. We know that we have to win games to do our job, so we will have to change and improve a lot.”
The Magpies slumped to a 3-1 defeat against Ipswich Town on Sunday, which means that they have picked up just one point from their past three games.
After being favorites to win the Championship title for much of the season, they are now several points adrift of leaders Brighton and Hove Albion, who at this stage will be the favorites to claim the crown.
Rafa Benitez’s side can however guarantee automatic promotion by claiming five points from their remaining three matches. Newcastle currently lie six points clear of Reading in fifth place and seven clear of Huddersfield, who occupy sixth place with a game in hand.
