Everton are reportedly willing to match their club record by offering £28 million for Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose during the summer.
Should such a transfer go ahead, then the fee will equal that which the club paid to lure Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in 2014. Everton director of football Steve Walsh is reported to have met with representatives of the Brazil international recently.
As the Merseyside outfit are set to lose star forward Romelu Lukaku during the summer as the Belgian international aims to reach his ambition of playing Champions League football, they will need to sign talented strikers in order to continue the progress that the club have undergone under manager Ronald Koeman.
Jose, who joined Sociedad 12 months ago, has bagged 10 goals from 23 La Liga appearances for the Spanish outfit this season. The Toffees are not the only club interested in the services of Jose. Watford, Newcastle United and Southampton are also said to be monitoring him.
