Ex-West Ham man brands his time in London as negative

Simone Zaza has admitted that his six month loan spell during with West Ham during the first half of the season was a nightmare according to Spanish daily AS.

After being brought from Juventus to the London Stadium in August 2016, many expected Zaza to become a talisman for the Hammers. However he failed to settle into life in England and during his spell in the Premiership, failed to bag a single goal.

“I’m not a phenomenon, I’m not the best in the world, what matters most to me is that people know I will give everything I have, because after the negative period at West Ham I suffered a lot,” he said.

Since moving to Spanish club Valencia in January, Zaza’s form has improved and he has bagged 4 goals from 14 appearances for the club.

After fulfilling an appearance related clause as part of his loan deal, it has recently been confirmed that the Italy international will join the La Liga team permanently.
