Sunderland manager David Moyes has hailed goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and claimed that he has “every right” to be named as the PFA Young Player of the year.
Moyes said, “For a young goalkeeper to do that in his first year in the Premier League takes some doing. But if you said who was new on the scene, I think Jordan would win it hands down. I think he would have every right to win the Young Player of the Year because he has been so good.”
Despite the Black Cats struggling in the Premier League this season, the 23-year-old has been in great form, so much so that he earned a call up to the England national team, though he has yet to make his debut.
Though Pickford is on the shortlist for the award, he will not be favorite to win considering that he is competing against the likes of Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Harry Kane as well as Romelu Lukaku, Leroy Sane as well as Michael Keane.
