In week 10 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017, Pachuca will host Monarcas Morelia at the Estadio Hidalgo this Wednesday, April 12, 2017 (7:06 PM Pacific). While Pachuca needs points for a playoff push, Morelia needs points to stay away from relegation.
Pachuca has fallen off in the last few weeks now in eighth place with 18 points. The ‘tuzos’ have not been able to win in their last three games, losing to Queretaro and Santos Laguna in this span. Pachuca has also not been able to score in these three winless games, the offense struggling heavily to generate anything. A big worry has been Hirving Lozano who has not shown up on the score sheet since week 1 of the competition. The youngster needs to be able to score and generate opportunities for Diego Alonso for Pachuca to be successful in the Liga MX. This will be a big test for Pachuca against a team that will not lack motivation going into the encounter.
Monarcas Morelia has had a decent campaign, currently in 10th place with 17 points. The monarchs have been undefeated in their last three games, defeating Puebla and drawing to Chivas and Cruz Azul. Even with the significant effort ‘la monarquia’ has displayed this season, they are still heavily in the relegation discussion. Veracruz achieved a huge 3-2 victory against Puebla this Tuesday which set them level to Morelia on the relegation table.
This game and all remaining games for Roberto Hernandez’s side are games where points are necessary. This will be a huge task for Monarcas Morelia especially away from home at a tough venue. The match should be a hard-fought encounter with both teams needing the three points from the match for distinct reasons.
