Fans of Leeds United have taken to Twitter to express their unhappiness at Chris Wood not being awarded the Championship Player of the Season Award with some saying that he was robbed.
Brighton and Hove Albion winger Anthony Knockaert won the award and in the process beat competition from Wood as well as Newcastle talisman Dwight Gayle.
Wood is currently the Championships top scorer and many feel that he should have been recognized for his exploits, as he helped carry a team who were did not hold high expectations into challenging for promotion.
With five games remaining, the Whites sit in fifth position on the standings and are likely to be in the playoffs. Knockaert has 13 strikes and has spearheaded Brighton’s impressive run this season as they look destined to be promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Nevertheless many Leeds fans felt that Wood was done an injustice.
