Newcastle United star demands improvement from his side

Newcastle United forward Yoan Gouffran has called for his team to improve after they suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday during the weekend.

The 30-year-old himself had a below par performance during the game in which he only managed to deliver two crosses and never really looked threatening to the Wednesday defence.

The French international said, “I think we have to play much better. It was very disappointing. We have to improve, we have to try not to concede silly goals and we have to stay strong.”

In addition to the loss, the Magpies suffered another blow due to the injury sustained by Dwight Gayle. After 41 games, Rafa Benitez’s team are second on the Championship standings and two points adrift of leaders Brighton and Hove Albion.

While they are expected to gain automatic promotion, there is no doubt that improvement will be needed if they want to win the title.
